Terms of service

Summary

• You must be a real person, at least 16, with one Oversine account that is yours.
• When you connect an AI agent and grant it the sign-in permission, you appoint it to sign in and sign up as you on platforms that offer “Sign in with Oversine”. What it does there counts as done by you, including agreeing to those platforms’ terms.
• That permission covers creating accounts and signing in. It does not cover buying anything, starting a subscription, or entering payment details.
• You can see every sign-in your agent made in your dashboard and revoke its access at any time.
• Platforms are run by other companies. Their terms govern your account with them, and we are not a party to that relationship.
• Oversine is free for people. We may suspend accounts that abuse it.

This agreement

These terms are a contract between you and Oversine, Inc. (“Oversine”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business at 2261 Market Street STE 68058, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States. You accept them when you create an Oversine account at https://auth.oversine.com, and you reaffirm them each time you sign in to a platform or grant a permission on our consent page.

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why. It is part of this agreement. If you register a platform or publish partner tools in the dashboard, the platform agreement applies to that activity as well.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not create an account or use the service.

Your account

Who may have one

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher, and able to enter into a binding contract. An Oversine account identifies one real person. You may not create an account for someone else, share an account, or hold more than one account for yourself.

Accurate information

The name and email address on your account are what platforms receive when you sign in and what your agent uses to fill in sign-up forms. Keep them accurate and yours. Using another person’s name, email address, or likeness is impersonation and ends this agreement.

Keeping it secure

Sign-in to Oversine is handled by Clerk, our identity processor. You are responsible for the credentials you choose, for the devices where you stay signed in, and for the security of the agent apps you connect. Tell us at legal@oversine.com as soon as you suspect your account or a connected agent has been compromised. Until you do, and until you revoke the connection in your dashboard, sign-ins made through your account are treated as yours.

The service

Oversine provides:

• Sign in with Oversine. An OpenID Connect identity you can use to sign in to platforms that offer it, in place of a separate password on each.
• Agent sign-in. A connection for AI agent apps (Claude, ChatGPT, or Claude Code) that lets your agent complete those sign-ins for you, under the permission described in Your agent.
• Partner tools. Tools that platforms publish through Oversine, which your agent may use once you select them, with each change it wants to make shown to you for approval first.
• Your dashboard. The record of where you and your agent signed in, which apps are connected and with what permissions, and the controls to change or revoke all of it.

The service is provided free of charge to account holders. We may change, add to, or retire features as the service develops. We will not introduce a charge for something you already use without at least 30 days’ notice by email.

Your agent

This section is the heart of these terms. Oversine exists so that software acting for you can sign in as you, without a person at the keyboard for each sign-in. For that to work, both you and the platforms you sign in to need to know exactly what the agent is authorized to do and who is responsible for it.

Appointing your agent

When you connect an agent app to Oversine and grant it the sign-in permission (shown on the consent page as “Approve sign-ins and sign-ups to other platforms on your behalf”), you appoint that agent to act as your electronic agent for the purposes listed below. The grant is a standing permission: the agent does not need to ask you before each sign-in, and it may sign in whenever a task you gave it takes it to a platform that offers “Sign in with Oversine”.

What the permission covers

With the sign-in permission, your agent may, as you:

• sign in to any platform that offers “Sign in with Oversine”;
• sign up on such a platform where you do not yet have an account, which creates an account there in your name;
• accept that platform’s terms of service, privacy policy, and similar conditions of having an account, as part of signing up;
• give the platform your Oversine name and email address, and enter them in profile and sign-up forms.

With the partner-tools permission, your agent may also call the partner tools you selected on the consent page and in your dashboard. Tools that change something are held for your approval in the dashboard before they run; the agent cannot approve them itself.

What it does not cover

The sign-in permission is limited to accounts and sign-ins. It does not authorize your agent to:

• buy goods or services, start a paid plan or subscription, or agree to any recurring charge;
• enter payment card, bank, or other financial details anywhere;
• agree to terms that are separate from having an account, such as a purchase agreement, a lease, or a professional services contract;
• sign in to a platform as anyone other than you.

Whether an agent may do any of those things on a platform is between you, the platform, and the agent app you use. It is not something Oversine grants.

Your agent’s acts are your acts

Sign-ins, sign-ups, and acceptances your agent completes under this permission are attributed to you as if you had performed them yourself, whether or not you were aware of the particular sign-in when it happened. An account your agent creates on a platform is your account. Terms your agent accepts there bind you. Platforms are told, when they ask, that a sign-in was completed by an agent, and they rely on this attribution when they let your agent in.

You are responsible for the instructions you give your agent, for the agent app you chose and its security, and for what your agent does on platforms with the access it gets through Oversine. If your agent breaks a platform’s rules, that is between you and the platform.

Records and revocation

Oversine records every sign-in request your agent approves: the platform, the time, and which connected app approved it. You can see this in your dashboard. You can revoke an agent app’s connection, or the sign-in permission alone, at any time from the dashboard. Revocation takes effect for future sign-ins; it does not undo accounts already created or terms already accepted on a platform. To close those, use the platform’s own controls.

Platforms and partners

Platforms that offer “Sign in with Oversine” and partners that publish tools through Oversine are independent companies. Your account with a platform, what you or your agent do there, and any purchase you make there are governed by that platform’s terms and privacy policy, not by these terms. We are not a party to your agreement with a platform, we do not control platforms, and we are not responsible for their services, content, or conduct.

Where a platform has given us the address of its terms and privacy policy, we link them on the consent page you or your agent see when first signing in. Read them there or on the platform. Where a platform has not, the platform is still responsible for making its terms available to you.

Disputes with a platform should be raised with that platform. We will help where we can, for example by confirming from our records when and by which connected app a sign-in happened, but we cannot resolve the dispute for you.

Acceptable use

You may not, and may not direct or allow an agent to:

• use Oversine to represent yourself as someone you are not;
• create or use additional Oversine accounts, or have your agent create additional accounts on a platform, to evade a suspension, a limit, or a ban;
• use access gained through Oversine to abuse a platform: sending spam, scraping in breach of its terms, overwhelming it with requests, or interfering with its operation;
• approve a sign-in request code that did not come from a page on https://auth.oversine.com reached from the platform you were using, or attempt to have someone else’s agent approve one of yours;
• probe, disrupt, or circumvent the security of the service, or access accounts, tokens, or data that are not yours;
• reverse engineer or copy the service, except where the law gives you that right regardless of these terms;
• use the service in breach of applicable law, including sanctions and export laws.

We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate accounts and connected apps that breach this section, and may tell affected platforms that we have done so.

Privacy

Our privacy policy describes what we collect, who receives it, how long we keep it, and your rights. In short: we hold your name, email, picture, and a record of where you and your agent signed in; we never see your password; platforms receive a stable identifier and, if they ask, your email and name; and we do not sell personal data or run advertising.

Ownership and feedback

Oversine and its software, design, documentation, marks, and the “Sign in with Oversine” button belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the service under these terms. Our open-source packages are licensed separately under the licenses that accompany them, and those licenses control for that code.

The information on your account is yours. If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without obligation to you.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using Oversine at any time and delete your account from your dashboard. Deleting it revokes every connected app and stops every future sign-in through Oversine. Accounts you created on platforms with it remain there under the platform’s terms until you close them; the identifier the platform holds for you stays valid as an identifier but can no longer be used to sign in.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Except where a breach or a legal requirement prevents it, we will email you first and give you the chance to export your records. Sections that by their nature should survive, including Your agent as to acts already performed, Disclaimers, Limits on liability, and Governing law and disputes, survive termination.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every platform will accept a sign-in, or that an agent app will behave as you expect. We do not control platforms, partners, or agent apps, and make no promises about them.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and does not let you waive.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Oversine and its officers, directors, employees, and suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service, from anything an agent did with access gained through it, or from any platform or partner, however caused and under any theory of liability.

Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the greater of one hundred US dollars (USD 100) and the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or wilful misconduct where the law does not allow it to be excluded.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.

If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another place whose consumer law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts or under your local law, nothing here takes that right away. Before starting any proceeding, please write to legal@oversine.com; most problems can be sorted out that way.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement; we may assign it in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and will tell you if we do. These terms, the privacy policy, and where applicable the platform agreement are the entire agreement between you and us about the service.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we update the effective date at the top. For material changes, including any change to what the sign-in permission covers, we will email account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and your dashboard will show the new terms for you to accept. Your agent’s sign-ins continue during that period. If you do not agree to the new terms, delete your account before they take effect. Earlier versions are available on request.
